Imran Kasujja, the immediate former guild speaker of Makerere University will together with a team of two other students of the university represent Africa at the finals of a Climate Summit organised by the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences (CSES) and the International Network of Environmental Forensics (INEF) in Atlanta, United States of America (USA).
“The interviews and applications were all done online. When we attempted the interview, I think the judges found alot of sense and so we got selected to go to China”, Kasujja said.
All was not as smooth as they expected though since they had to foot half of their transport costs.
To qualify for the said finals, Kasujja and his team presented and discussed Climate under the Theme, “The Impact of Climatic Change on the Economy” in Beijing, China during the preliminary stage of the competitions.
Being an Economics student, Kasujja’s knowledge and application of the effects of climate change on the economy impressed the judges to choose them among the final bunch that shall present in Atlanta, USA in October this year.
The summit was attended by over 100 countries from all over the world with over 20 coming in from Africa but only Uganda and Nigeria qualified for the finals to represent the continent in the October summit.
The other members of the team who helped in research as Kasujja presented are Josephat Musasizi and Nicholas Aijuka.
