Former Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof Venansius Baryamureeba is currently being held at Kabalagala Police Station after knocking two women and killing one.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police, the vehicle with personalized plates “U” knocked the two women and a perimeter wall.
The accident happened this afternoon around 1pm at the Kibuli Muyenga junction, in Makindye Division.
According to the deputy Kampala Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire, the deceased has been identified as Mariam Jagenda, whose body was instantly taken to Mulago Hospital for postmortem.
“The second victim Namusoke Mariam is still admitted at Mulago Hospital,” Owoyesigire said before adding “The suspect Prof Baryamureeba Venansius is detained at Kabalagala Police Station as investigations into the cause of accident is underway.”
More details indicate that Baryamureeba’s vehicle is parked at Police yard awaiting IOV inspection.
