Professor Fredrick Mukungu, one of the longest-serving staff at Uganda Christian University (Mukono), has succumbed to COVID-19.
Sources near him say he passed on Friday afternoon and had tested positive for COVID-19.
Prof. Mukungu, worked at UCU for about 23 years, as a librarian; before joining Muni University.
He was a librarian at Muni University, at the time of his death.
He was also the Inaugural Chairman – Consortium of Uganda University Libraries from 2001 to 2003.
He was also one time, a treasurer – Standing Conference of National and University Libraries in East, Central and South – SCANUL ECS from 2002 to 2004.
He was also secretary of the Uganda Library Association in1998/1999).
He is also a member of the University Council and Chairman of Search Committee – Ndejje university
At one time, he was Chairman of Missions Board – Busoga diocese, and Chairman of Board of Governors – Luzinga Senior Secondary School.
During his professional life, he also worked as a Church Warden at St. Philip and Andrew’s Cathedral Mukono, Missions Coordinator at St Philip and Andrew’s Cathedral Mukono (2008-2012) and College Librarian at Bishop Tucker Theological College Mukono (1982-1997). At one time, he was also the School Librarian for Mt St. Mary’s Secondary School Namagunga, between 1978 to 1982.
