Fraudsters have allegedly sold land belonging to Makerere University don Professor Ahmed Zziwa from the Faculty of Food Science.
The fraudsters sold an acre of land (valued at 150m) at Nakasajja-Ddundu in Mukono district belonging to Professor Ahmed to a one business woman known as Asirat Mbabazi at UGX 55 million.
Having paid 50 million with only 5 million left, Asirat Mbabazi was alerted by local leaders that the land to which she had been sold belongs to a Makerere University professor who isn’t aware of any transaction regarding the sale of his land.
Asirat Mbabazi notified police that was able to arrest the fraudsters as they tried to withdraw the balance that had been deposited by Asirat on their bank account.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the arrest of the fraudsters who he said are currently detained at Kampala Central Police Station.
Luke Owoyesigyire advised that the public must double-check to prove the authenticity of the documents presented to them prior to making purchases.
