Andrew Mukasa, popularly known as Bajjo, a first-year student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Leisure, Events, and Hotel Management under the Faculty of Tourism, Hospitality, and Languages (FTHL) at Makerere University Business School (MUBS), had a notable meeting today with Prof. Samson Omuudu Otengei, the Head of the Department of Leisure and Hospitality Management.
In a tweet shared by the official university page, Bajjo expressed his ambition to elevate Uganda’s leisure and events management industry to the global stage. This passion for the sector is what led him to pursue this course.
“Bajjo is determined to take Uganda’s leisure and events management industry to the international level, a reason he chose to do the course,” part of the tweet read.
Bajjo’s return to school has generated significant attention, as he resumed formal education after a 15-year break. His enrollment at MUBS highlights his commitment to acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to further his impact in the entertainment industry.
Who is Bajjo?
Bajjo Alphonse, also known as Andrew Mukasa or Bajjo Events, is a prominent figure in Uganda’s entertainment scene. As the CEO of Bajjo Events and Marketing Agency, he has been instrumental in promoting music and organizing large-scale events across the country.
In addition to his work in the industry, Bajjo partnered with organisations like the Bunyoro Kingdom to promote local talent and culture through music. However, his career has also seen moments of controversy, such as his 2023 resignation from the Uganda National Promoters Federation (UNPF), where he cited political interference, particularly the involvement of supporters of General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of Uganda’s president.
