Makerere University is known for lots of things, lazy lectures, brainy students, radical elements who are always seeking for trouble, engaging in strikes and exposing innocent black hens to the brunt of military brutality at the constitutional square… But overly innocent students aren’t a common sight.
Muhumuza Charles a first year law student will forever regret why he left his home town, Hoima to come to Kampala. He like any serious student decided to go to the library to do some reading, I believe after lecturers scared the freshers to spend their free time in the library and the chapel. The young man went to the library after asking a continuing student and he did some reading.
Afters reading a few cases or pretending to have been reading, Charles decides to leave… He confidently walks and miserably loses his way…The fresher soon realized he had actually lost his way, and he started panicking, moving up and down asking every one in very hard to comprehend English.
The fresher was seen moving up and down, actually going around in circles trying to find the exit trust university students to mind their business, not even the tear faced fresher could convince them to pay attention. The makerere library is very large but has just one exit. “I struggled, asking around but the few boys I asked could not give clear directions, I decided to sit and wait for help ,I couldn’t shout so I decided to sit, I was really scared because it was getting late…and there were very few people.,” said the fresher to Campusbee.
Charles was found by a library cleaner who led him out the University library, the teary eyed Charles was seen walking sadly to hostel promising not to ever go to the library again. …. some students still need their mothers around. Apparently the fresher is a last born sorry Charles we share your pain, welcome to campus!
