Friday Night Lights (FNL) basketball returns is set to return with season 10 with the season opener slated for Friday, September 27, 2024 at Lugogo Hockey Pitch.
Eight teams will be competing in season 10 and these are; Team Yawe, Team Kamwada, Team Obleng, Team Wazee and Team Ba-Fani. Team Afande and Team Comfort will also return in the new season while The Luol Deng Foundation will also come up with a team ready to put up a new challenge.
The launch of season 10 happened on Saturday at NRG. whose Program Director expressed gratitude and excitement for partnering with FNL in the new season.
“We are excited to partner with FNL again, considering what is lined up for Season 10. Basketball fans and whoever loves a good (NRG) party must not consider missing out,” Kevin Bellwood, NRG Radio’s Group Program Director said.
“This being the 10th FNL season, we thought we would spice things up a little more. That is why we have done activations and engagement at various basketball courts in Greater Kampala in the lead up to the tip-off, next Friday, September 27, 2024,” Tom Ocamringa, the FNL Team Leader, said
“They (activations) went beyond promoting awareness about the FNL events to promoting the growth of the beautiful game of basketball by engaging with local communities and expanding the game’s reach beyond the conventional experiences,” Ocamringa added.
Eric Malinga, the Castle Lite brand manager urged all fans of basketball and FNL to turn up in large numbers and watch the games as they enjoy a bottle of castle lite.
“Castle Lite loves basketball and wants you to enjoy the ‘Lite Side’ of the game on and off the court. Come through in big numbers and let loose with your favourite beer in hand amidst the thrills on court,” he said.
Grace Namutebi, the Brand Manager of Mountain Dew said; “Mountain Dew is proud to be the official soft drinks partner for this edition of FNL. We shall keep the teams refreshed throughout the games and the fans can enjoy some video games in the fanzone. We shall also have cool gear up for grabs during the halftime challenges”.
Last season Team Iman emerged as the season’s winner. All teams in the new season are ready to put up a good challenge to claim the season’s title.
