On October 25, 2024, during the 20th graduation ceremony at Bishop Stuart University (BSU), a one Kakama Innocent walked proudly across the stage to receive his Bachelor of Science in Economics and Statistics.
Kakama Innocent’s journey to a Bachelor’s degree is a story of the power of never giving up, earning a Second Class Upper.
For Kakama, a former cook and cattle herder, his educational journey was not a typical one that most graduates experience.
After completing Primary Seven, he faced challenges that almost made him give up on his dreams of further education.
He initially pursued a certificate in mechanics, but circumstances diverted him from his studies, and he soon found himself working as a cattle herder.
Later, he took up a job as a cook at Mbarara High School (CHAAPA). It was here, amidst long working hours in the school kitchen, that Kakama’s dreams of further education began to rekindle.
In his free time, Kakama dedicated himself to revising the Senior Four curriculum, determined to earn his Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE). His determination paid off, and he continued on to complete only his Senior Six studies.
He later gained admission to Bishop Stuart University to study Economics and Statistics, and on graduation day, Kakama achieved his long-awaited dream.
Indeed, hard work pays, congratulations to Kakama upon the well deserved achievement.
