Just minutes after the non teaching staff suspended the industrial strike, the University council chaired by the Acting VC reacted by raising the closure ban it had imposed on the University.
While talking to the media, Eng .Dr. Charles Wana-Etyem the Chairperson  of the council declared the University open starting Saturday 20th for freshers and continuing students to come on Sunday the 21st August 2016. The council has staggered the reporting by one day to avoid the congestion and allow smooth running of services and reporting of the students.
“The semester end has been extended from 10th December 2016 to 17th December to give students quality education as expected” said Ritah Namisango the University PR.
Jothan Burobuto the acting guild president urged students to report as early as 9am on Saturday for freshers. He added that the 2 remaining days of the week have been allocated to the cleaners to clean lecture rooms, offices and students’ halls of residences.
New to this development is the fact that a supplementary intake has been set up till the 26th of August. This has been set to enable applicants who wanted to apply through the online window but couldn’t because of the strike. All students who want to apply are thereby called upon to do so before the set deadline.
The Academic Registrar has called upon students to report with their provisional admission forms and those who haven’t picked them up to come for them tomorrow and Friday.
The Dean of students said that the Bazaar and Orientation will be wrapped up starting Saturday.
