Webometrics, the largest academic ranking platform for higher education institutions in the world has released its January 2022 edition of rankings, Campus Bee has learnt. According to the newly released list, Kampala International University – KIU is the best private university in Uganda.
The rankings further place the Kansanga-based university as the second-best in Uganda after the number one learning institution, Makerere University. It should be recalled that KIU was the third best university in Uganda according to the previous Webometrics rankings.
Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Kyambogo University, Busitema University and Gulu University follow in that order. Webometrics combines Research and Web indicators as the metrics in the ranking.
Webometrics is a ranking system for the world’s universities based on the volume of the web content, visibility, and the impact of web publications. The ranking is published by the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) located in Madrid, Spain, and recognized globally.
The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, also known as Ranking Web of Universities, is a ranking system for the world’s universities based on a composite indicator that takes into account both the volume of the Web content (number of web pages and files) and the visibility and impact of these web publications according to the number of external inlinks (site citations) they received.
