This fresher got the university experience he will live to tell, during his first days at campus. Having been informed that the timetable for his faculty was already out, the fresher, only identified as Brian, could not wait to know how it feels like to sit in a lecture room. So, on the fateful morning, he woke up a little earlier than usual to prepare for his first class.
Brian found himself having to take a cold morning shower in the old, untidy bathrooms of Nsibirwa hall where he resides. Unknown to this Brian fresher, the tap water to use is treated with chorine, despite the numerous side effects this may have to normal human beings. However, Brian’s case was a lot different as he had recently paid a couple of visits to the safe male circumcision campaign, and his wounds were still fresh.
As a result, the chlorine treated water did not have a very friendly effect on our beloved fresher. Brian returned to his friends feeling very itchy and uncomfortable. He did not even get to enjoy the lecture he had woken up so early for. On disclosing this ordeal to his friends, they burst out laughing and later informed him of the chlorine treatment. This left Brian very annoyed and swearing never to use hall bathrooms again. Nevertheless, he had received his “welcome to makerere” in a style he will live to remember.
