Translated Movies Craze Hits Makerere ‘Intellectuals’

When Frank Gashumba, a renowned’ Philanthropist’ called Makerere University students “dogs”, there was a lot of steam from the students who deemed his use of language as an insult to their mighty academic achievements. However, following an incident at Mary Stuart hall yesterday, one can’t help but wonder whether there was some truth to his insult.
As the cultural week that started yesterday rages on, the Lumbox solidarity; a union between Lumumba and Mary Stuart hall gathered at Mary Stuart for the movie night which was watched in a Luganda translation.
The movie, non-stop, which starred Lupita Nyiongo and Liam Nelson was fully packaged with the infamous V.J Junior translation and there seemed to be complete silence as if everything was finally at par.

One wonders if the grades these guys always pride in are only enough to take them into Makerere but not help them in their everyday basic English communication.
