The government of Uganda is planning to connect free internet to all Public Universities and government agencies, Campus Bee has learned. Speaking at the launch of the National Conference on Communications (5th edition), the Minister of ICT, Frank Tumwebaze said that he has a proposal in plan that he is waiting to share with the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC).
The conference is happening at Makerere University in Kampala. HonTumwebaze proposed the provision of free internet and Wi-Fi for education institutions and government agencies while emphasizing the fact that enhancing connectivity is now an important tool for effective learning and development.
The conference on communications is going to run for two days and it is under the theme, “Harnessing Opportunities in Emerging Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) Technologies.”
