The government has finalized plans regarding the introduction of patriotism lectures in all universities and higher institutions of learning across the country.
The Minister for Presidency, Ms Milly Babalanda made the remarks during the meeting with Mwangaza African Revolutionary Study Groups on Tuesday 6th September 2022.
These groups are responsible for teaching ideological principles among university students.
While calling for a deliberate choice to popularize proper ideological thinking particularly among people, Ms Milly Babalanda said that very few leaders are performing to people’s expectations because they miss out on matters of ideology.
She argued that the NRM party is built on NRM ideology and that leaders’ ideological bankruptcy is the reason why the President’s ideas and plans to transform Uganda fail.
“Today, all graduates leave college to run to politics when they are not ideologically prepared, so your decision to target universities is a very good one,” she said in support of the plan to introduce patriotism in universities.
This will be implemented with the help of Resident District Commioners ( RDCs ) and Resident City Commisdioners to promote and support this initiative in their local governments.
Senior Presidential Advisor who at the same time serves as the Chairperson of Mwangaza Governing Council, Mr. David Mafabi, claims that the President has consistently identified ideological disorientation as the major hindrance in Africa’s development.
It is on this ground that the Minister for Presidency Ms Milly Babalanda and Senior Presidential Advisor Mr. David Mafabi, who are representatives of the government in this case, argue that the introduction of patriotism lectures in all universities and higher institutions of learning is a very good strategy to foster ideological principals among the young citizens.
