In an effort to fight against the Coronavirus pandemic, Makerere University is one of those institutions that have taken it upon themselves to render a helping hand in all ways possible.
News reaching Campus Bee indicate that the efforts have not only painted the institution as one that is made up of humane people but have also earned it an approval to start testing for coronavirus from the government.
The approval to start testing for Coronavirus has been given to the institution through professor Moses Joloba and his team. Dr. Joloba is the current chair of the department of medical microbiology, Makerere University College of Health Sciences. He also doubles as the current head of laboratories and the head of the appointments and promotions committee of the department.
Makerere University’s vice chancellor, Professor Barnabas Nawangwe took to his Facebook page to congratulate Dr. Joloba and his team.
“I congratulate Prof. Moses Joloba and his team upon getting government approval to start testing for Coronavirus. This is great testimony of capacity that has been built at our science laboratories. Now we can contribute even better to fighting against COVID 19. Congratulations! ” read the post.
