Kyambogo woes are getting more bloody, info reaching our desk indicates that government ‘dons’ have given lecturers and the non-teaching staff up to Monday to report back to work or else face expulsion.
Kyambogo University staff members went on strike protesting the return of Vice Chancellor, Prof Ndiege. They are against the decision by High Court which reinstated as him back as Vice Chancellor months after he had been suspended by the university.
The Daily Monitor Newspaper reports that the Education minister, Ms Jessica Alupo, had earlier urged the lecturers to reconsider their position and return to the university since students were losing out academically after paying tuition. It to be noted that KYU students have for the last 3 weeks not been taught.
“All lecturers and non-teaching staff should report for duty by Monday without fail,” Ms Alupo said.
“All those that shall not return will be considered as having absconded and disciplinary measures shall be taken against them,” she added.
Our fingers are crossed, we hope the Kyambogo students will return to school lest they start recording sex tapes!
