With learners and teachers countrywide in high expectation of school re-opening announcements this week, the Minister of Information, Judith Nabakooba has warned Ugandans against speculating on such matters.
According to the Ministry of Education, schools should be open before next month when candidates are expected to sit for their final year exams.
According to Nabakooba, President Museveni or the Minister of Education and First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni will communicate the final decision that the government will have reached.
“Let us wait for communication from the President or the Minister of Education.” She said, refusing to commit herself on when that will be.
“I want to appeal to everyone to stay calm and and continue to be guided by the existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).” Nabakooba added.
It is almost a year since President Museveni ordered the closure of all schools across the country as a measure to stop the spread of COVID-19.
