The recently elected guild government is carrying out a vetting exercise of the appointed ministers that has been ongoing since the wake of today morning.
Over the weekend, her excellence Prisca Amongin released names of the ministers that will aid her in her government.
However, there is emerging controversy over some appinted ministers as it’s alleged that Amongin only appointed people who were behind her during the campaign.
The appointed Vice Guild President, Brian Mwesigwa, has been rumored to have contributed a great chunk of money to aid Amongin during her campaign when she had run broke. Now Amongin is being accused of favoritism, even though Mwesigwa says he was given the position on merit.
Mwesigwa is also happy about the appointment. “I feel privileged, and it is an honor,” he told Campus Bee.
The looming controversy is also due to inclusion of former presidential candidates, Perez Mwembi and Allan Yiga, who have been appointed to the tribunal. Shocking is that Mwembi was disqualified from the presidential race after allegations of corruption and bribery of the electoral commission with Shs 3 million.
Students question the competence of such candidates to take on such positions and in the judiciary, given their incompetence and moral decadence.
Results will be expected by the end of the day and the swearing-in ceremony of the new leaders will be conducted on Thursday during community worship.
