When Guinness held its second live draw to pick the winner of a trip to the United Kingdom, little did Thomas Sekanwagi know that lady luck was about to smile for him.

The self-employed businessman couldn’t believe that he had actually won a trip to the UK to watch a live match courtesy of Guinness.

“Is this real or it is kiwani? Guinness is my brand and I have been participating in the Get Booked promotion from the onset,” he shouted literally when called live on air.

My wish is that I get to Dublin, Ireland, the birth place of Guinness. I just want to know how this wonderful beer is crafted,” he added.

A simple look through his Facebook profile proves that Sekanwagi has been a loyal Guinness consumer for years. His Facebook profile photo is the iconic Arthur Guinness signature.

Phoebe Nakabazzi, the Guinness Brand Manager says that the Get Booked, Win a trip to the UK campaign aims at rewarding loyal Guinness consumers as well as bring football closer to them.

Sekanwagi is the second winner of a trip to the UK, the other being Michael Businge, a nursing officer in Nakaseke. A total of six lucky Ugandans will travel to watch a live soccer match in the UK.

The promotion is also bringing live English Premiership action to Ugandans through a partnership with NBS TV, the only local TV with broadcast rights to the EPL. The monthly draws to pick winners of the trip to the UK will also be broadcast live on NBS television.

To participate in the promotion, customers have to buy Guinness, check under the crown for a code and then send an SMS with the code to 6050 for a chance to win either instant UGX5,000airtime or enter the draw for a chance to win a trip to the UK. The more codes one sends, the higher their chances of winning.

Up to UGX 800,000,000 worth of airtime will be won under the crown. There will be at least 8000 airtime winners every week for 18 weeks.

There are also in-bar activations ongoing in various locations where consumers found drinking Guinness from the magnificent ‘tower-serve’ by mystery referees will ‘Get Booked’ to win instant prizes.

The promotion runs till December 2015 and is only open to Guinness consumers above the age of 18 country wide.
