Gulu University guild president Anyama Alfred Berliner has written to the dean of students cancelling his international tour in order to save funds and award graduands.
In his letter to the dean of students MR. Opiyo Francis dated February 20th, Anyama requested the dean to transfer his facilitation for international travel to finance the award of outstanding students in the forthcoming 18th graduation.
“with great honour and diligence, I write to request and consent that funds which were meant to facilitate the international travel for the Guild president be used to purchase the accolades for awarding outstanding 18th grandaunds,”he said.
The National Unity platform flagbearer, asserted that the move will help boost the morale of students in academics and increase productivity in leadership.
The letter came barely days before the northern Uganda-based university confers academic degrees and certificates of completions to its students who have excelled at various level of studies in the 18th graduation ceremony. The ceremony is taking place today, Feb 24th at the main campus.
H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, is expected to spearhead the graduation ceremony with the installation of Rt. Hon. Rhukana, as Gulu university 3rd Chancellor.
