In an ongoing East Africa Trade Expo in Nyanza Province – Tanzania, Gulu University officials are exhibiting Covilyce-1, an indigenous herbal medicine used in the treatment of COVID-19.
Covilyce-1 herbal medicine was created by scientists headed by Dr Alice Lamwaka at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Studies (Pharm-Biotech), backed by over 200 herbalists from the Acholi sub-region to treat COVID-19. The drug developers were also supported with a million dollar aid from the central government to facilitate it’s mass production and further development.
According to Dr Alice and team, the drug can cure COVID-19 patients within 72 hours of administering. The 10-member team left the country aboard a University bus in a 15-hour journey to attend the December 2-12 event.
