Gulu University was over the weekend engulfed by the heat of elections.
The tightly contested race was won by a one Francis Okot from the Forum Democratic Change (FDC) Party.
After critical evaluation of the votes, Francis emerged winner with a revised total of 1179 votes from the valid ballots collected by the electoral commission.
His closest contender was Musamaino Frank from the outgoing Guild president’s party – National Unity Platform (NUP).
Anyama Berliner Alfred, the NUP leaning candidate has been at the helm of the students’ leadership in the outgoing government.
He will now handover instruments of power to FDC’s Francis Okot for the 2023/2024 reign.
“The Guild Electoral Commission maintains that all these students contested as students of Gulu University and not on any party ticket. The EC highly disassociate itself from any political party claiming any student contested on their party tickets.”
