It is the season of campus politics and guild aspirants pull different stunts to draw attention or sympathy to their various campus. Some kidnap themselves, others do make up of blood and post on social media claiming that a rival camp attacked their candidate whereas others orchestrate several smear campaigns.
This, however, isn’t the case with Oyet Samuel Agwani, the NRM leaning guild presidential candidate at Gulu university who caused a “mini-inflation” on Saturday March 30. While Campus Bee took the Bell Jamz Silent Disco to Regina Hotel in Gulu university, the second-year student pursuing Bachelor of Arts, Education planned a major financial move.
To prove that he is a baller who can take care of most students’ needs, Agwani paid for over 150 students entrance fee [10k each] to the Bell Jamz Silent Disco (spending over ugx1,500,000). Some students thought April Fools Day had come earlier as they could not believe it. It was not until Agwani paid cash that these students believed the NRM candidate is not a “joking subject”.
As if that was not enough, Agwani bought, also in cash, ten crates of Bell Lager for his supporters (costing him over shs500,000) who lifted him up in air chanting “Agwani oyee” in total, Agwani splashed over ugx2m at the campus event…At the end of the night, many students were overheard saying that even if he is NRM leaning, Agwani has proven, beyond reasonable doubt that he can take on the mantle of being the guild president of Gulu University.
