The political seasonal has turned into Hot ‘Political furnace’ as the university prepares for elections scheduled this weekend on 22nd April 2018. New campaigning tactics like composing campaign songs, sculpting candidates’ images, jazz band etc, have added new ingredient to the presidential race of Gulu University.
One of the aspirants, Mr. Ojengo Boniface, while on Mega FM for a live Guild debate, pledged to support a fellow candidate, Mr. Onono Ojok James who is journalist at Mega FM. Mr Ojengo, who was fronted by AGUSA (Acholi Gulu University Students’ Association) as their flag bearer, ignited the other candidates to adjust their campaigning tactics in light of the strong coalition by the ‘brothers from the North’.
“The race is between three candidates; Mbaziira Daniel, Noowe Johnson and Onono James”, one student said.
Students and campaign agents are hunting for votes plus counteracting the propaganda spreading o all media platforms. Propaganda has crashed many aspirants who have used all means possible to keep their supporters on their side.
Gulu Electoral Commission has organized different platforms like open air campaigns, radio and television stations, for candidates to sell out their manifestos. Today, Wednesday 18th, the aspirants will be in open Air Campaigns at the University.
