The unreasonable winds of fate have once again robbed Gulu University of one of its senior lecturers.  Dr. Micheal Oryema Lalobo who has been a Senior Lecturer in the department of microbiology in Faculty of Medicine bid this world adieu yesterday in the morning hours.

The late, whom medical students had nicknamed “pertusis” because of the interesting way he would place emphasis on this particular malady while wearing a grave face; will be sorely missed by many. His vigor and valor while lecturing induced many a medical student to develop interest in the field of microbiology which is often perceived by many as being mortally boring.

This departed ‘soldier’ in the medical field after completing his A level at St. Joseph’s College Layibi did a bachelors in biological science at Makerere University after which he added a long list of academic achievements and later several publications in internationally recognized journals. Before joining Gulu University, he was a senior member of the department of disease control and environmental health in Makerere University College of Health Sciences.

The cause of death is yet to be ascertained as the pathologist’s report is awaited. The late has left a vivid mark in the lives of many. May his soul rest in peace eternal.
