Finalists from the faculty of Medicine at Gulu University have started reporting today for their final semester following the presidential directive for all final year students of higher institutions of learning to resume school.
The joint decision by Ministry of Education and Sports, Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to resume school under the COVID-19 situation provided comprehensive Standards of Operation Procedures (SOPs) for institutions to follow as practical guidelines on the required measures to minimize the risk of the spread of coronavirus.
The reopening of schools followed the release of the guidelines for SOPs and also school and other institutions’ calendar for candidates and final year students of 2020.
The rest of the final year students will be required to report effective 15th October and attend 8 weeks of lectures, tests, assignments and final examinations before closure.
Of the few standard procedures set, all students will be required to stay in allocated hostels of residence for easy monitoring and regulations to mitigate the chances of COVID-19 spread, if it comes to that.
