Gulu University has officially started the search for a new Dean of Students that will replace ousted Christopher Mwetale Mpora.
Gulu University has called for applications to some of the vacant positions and among these is the post of Dean of Students.
The position fell vacant when Mwetale was forced to step out of office following reports that he participated in theft, forgery and utterance of false documents.
Mwetale was found guild and interdicted from office for breach of the Public Standing Orders. Francis Opiyo has been acting in that capacity since then.
Last year, Justice Alex Mackay Ajiji, the Resident Judge of Gulu quashed an earlier ruling by the Magistrate’s court that found Mwetale guilty.
Mwetale’s lawyers had, after Justice Mackay’s ruling, written to Gulu University management to reinstate their client but all in vain.
Gulu University has finally decided to find a new person to fit into Mwetale’s shoes.
According to the advertisement, applicants for the position of Dean must have a minimum of eight years’ work experience in managing students, five of which must have been at Principal or equivalent level in a reputable institution, preferably a higher education institution.
The applicants must be 55 years old or below possessing a Master’s Degree in either Public Administration and Management, Education Management
or Business Administration (Management Option).
The applicants are also required to have an Honours Bachelor’s degree in either education, arts, social science, social works and social administration, public administration and management, or business management.
