Worries about the tiresome movements to and fro in search for a perfect hostel will now be history at Northern Uganda’s hill of the learned after creation of “myHostel” app.
Ngabo Robert aka Wallace, the master developer together with Mackmot Ambrose and Nalwoga Paula are the big brains behind the “myHostel” application a creation that is making rounds all over campus leaving many in nothing but awe.
“It is intended to inform students more so freshers and any other visitors around Gulu University about all hostels in the vicinity. The app will give all details about the hostels including prices, location, quality of services offered and a lot more. It has been built with various interfaces, that is to say, a home page, navigation menu, sharing functionality to mention but a few. It has been developed using a number of languages to make it fit for its due purpose. “MyHostel” is compatible with android devices and am sure it’s going to bridge a big gap in hostel search.” said Wallace. He further stated that it will work offline when searching for hostel details but in order for one to view the location details, internet connection will be needed.
When asked about what inspired him to make this creation, Robert had this to say, “I have always had a passion for computing and more so i drew my inspiration from Osalia Anthony a graduate from Gulu University who was doing something concerning programming. I saw him do great and I felt the urge to be like him someday and here I am now with a working application. I am also building on something to help my community and it will be out in no time.”
