On Saturday, the outgoing guild government of Gulu University handed over office to the “Agenda19” government headed by the new guild president, Noowe Johnson.
In the presence of the University Dean, Mr Mpora Christopher, the Academic Registrar, Mr Bagaya Jerry and the Vice Chancellor, Professor Openjuru George Ladaah, the revamp government handed over the various offices along with all instruments of power.
Guests in attendance included renowned former guild president, Mr Richard Bongowat of 2015/2016 who also had a chance to address the incumbents on what to look out for and how to go about with the political storms when they hit. His advice came at a time when it is most needed having witness a great fight in the house earlier last week in relation to speakership.
Outgoing guild president Mbazira Daniel greatly appreciated the student’s body, administration and the various stakeholders who made his regime a successful one. He went head to point out achievements attained during his term of office including; tarmac roads within the university, security lights installation, 850 chairs, the guild van, beautified compound and the initiation of the convocation of the old students’ body eighteen years down the road.
The University vice chancellor advised the incumbents to serve and not rule the students of Gulu University because power “corrupts good character.” He went on to thank all students for taking active part in University politics saying it is an avenue for growth and development.
As the new government takes over, we wish them the very best in their various leadership endeavors.
