Uganda’s flag was raised high up at the sexual and representative health conference held in Kigali, Rwanda last week.
Out of the 106 abstracts on sexual and representative health presented at the conference, 25 from Gulu University were considered.
The 25 abstracts were compiled by experts from Gulu University and health workers from affiliated teaching hospitals; Lacor hospital and Gulu Regional Referral hospital.
Dr Francis Pebalo, head of Gulu University sexual and reproductive health resource center said the acceptance of the abstracts shows great concern of the world to learn on matters related to sexual and reproductive health in the post-conflict northern Uganda as well as providing an opportunity for the young health experts from the region to partner with other international mentors who are eager to learn from the region’s cases as far as sexual and reproductive health issues are.
The delegation from Gulu University included Dr Bongomin Felix Aspergillosis expert and lecturer at the faculty of medicine, Dr Lamwaka Alice Veronica – the Principal investigator of Covilyce one, the herbal concoction for COVID-19, Dr Beatrice P’Odong, pediatrician and lecturer at faculty of medicine among others.
