In a program dubbed the 2020 Huawei Seeds for The Future program, Gulu University’s Patrick Kasiita emerged the overall best and was awarded a prize of a Huawei Matebook.
In his tweet, he is quotes saying, “Words can’t tell it all, we have benefited even beyond our expectations and now it’s time to face the world under new capacities”
37 of the best ICT students were selected to participate in an online training organized by Huawei Technologies. The students were trained in various Internet applications such as virtual reality (helping you learn about different places and ideas by experiencing them as if you were actually there), Big Data (compilation and analyzing complex data), Cloud (storage), Artificial intelligence (machine intelligence) and 5G (Fifth generation technology) related courses.
Most students completed the designated courses and activities; they were awarded Huawei certificates delivered by the Huawei ICT Academy and much more from the Ugandan offices
The State Minister of Education and Sports, Honorable Hamson Obua in his address said he believes that the skills and training obtained by the Ugandan students will enrich and bring more value into the IT and STI sector.
In an effort to make and not break bridges, Hon Obua said the good working relationship between Uganda and China has been enhanced, that he appreciated the ministry for allowing the Seeds For The Future program to groom and train people in the ICT sector.
Madam Zhao, a commercial counselor in the Chinese Embassy said in this pandemic period where thousands of meetings are being held virtually (online), we must appreciate the importance of ICT. She said China will continue to provide support to Uganda in this fight-sharing the experience.
