A brawl, in which a young man’s hand was chopped off, broke out in Jinja City during a graduation party on Sunday.
It is said that the unfortunate incident happened as a result of a misunderstanding during the process of serving food (pilau in particular) to the guests.
Identified as Shafic Sizomu, the 15-year-old resident of Wakalenge cell in Jinja, whose hand was chopped off, earlier lined up for food at the ceremony, together with his friends until two men (now suspects) grabbed the saucepan that contained the pilau and moved it away.
It’s upon that background that a brawl broke out, triggering one of the suspects to pull out a panga, and chopped out Sizomu’s palm.
One of the suspects is still on the run, while two others have been detained.
The injured young lad was rushed to a hospital in Jinja City where he is currently receiving treament, after bleeding heavily.

In his statement about the incident, Kiira regional police spokesperson, James Mubi says that the suspects face two charges of attempted murder and causing grievous body harm to the victim.
