54% of the UACE leavers who applied for the Bachelors of Laws at Uganda Christian University [UCU] Mukono, failed the UCU pre-entry Law interviews. Unlike Makerere University, the students are given oral interviews as opposed to the pre-entry exams at Makerere.
Out of the 1160 students who signed up for and did the Law pre-entry interviews, only 530 passed. The pre-entry interview tests students for logic, comprehension skills, grammar, writing skills, and general knowledge.
Most of the students that passed the pre-entry interviews picked their admission letters yesterday with jubilation and a lot of joy. “I am happy to be one of the few that really passed the interview, I didn’t think that I would make it,” shared Rebecca one of the students that was picking her admission.
“I am very sad, I actually thought I had passed the interview. Anyways it’s not as easy as you might think,” commented Moses a student that failed the pre-entry interview.
Well as 80% [1,189] students failed the Makerere Law pre-entry exam, 54% [603] students failed the UCU pre-entry interview. This says a lot about the students that secondary schools release into the real world, a world where cram work doesn’t really help.
Congratulations to all those that passed the UCU pre-entry interview.
