Kyambogo university government sponsored students have staged a demonstration infront of the Senate building this afternoon demanding their internship and faculty allowances.
This move comes in after the students who had been promised a meeting with the university vice chancellor prof Elly Katunguka at Peace Park today to discuss why these monies had delayed, became furious after the vice chancellor did not show up. Instead, the newly elected guild President Ochieng Joseph was told to meet the students who claim they have been meeting him [Ochieng] over and over and he has done nothing.
The furious students claim the semester has come to an end and most of them have finished exams but haven’t received this [internship] money which they say they need as soon as possible.
These students have forced the guild President into the Senate to meet the VC and discuss their matters and insist no one will get out of the Senate building until their issues have been resolved.
