In a public notice issued today 20th November 2024, the Higher Education Students’ Financing Board (HESFB) announced the cancellation of the student loan appeals process for the academic year 2024/25.

The Board stated that due to budgetary constraints, the appeals process that allows applicants to re-apply will not be considered this year.

HESFB Executive Director Michael O. Wanyama expressed regret for any inconveniences this decision may have caused.

Despite the cancellation of appeals, the Board affirmed its commitment to facilitating the in-study Loan Scheme and engaging stakeholders to resume supporting new cohorts of student loan beneficiaries in 2024/25 academic year.

The announcement has raised concerns among students who were hoping to appeal their loan application outcomes.

Education stakeholders are urging HESFB to explore alternative solutions to support affected students amid the prevailing financial challenges.
