The Higher Education Students’ Financing Board (HESFB) has released the first batch of successful loan scheme beneficiaries for the academic year 2021/2022.
From a pool of 4797 applicants, 3926 were approved and at least 920 of these will benefit from this year’s loan scheme. These include 735 undergraduate students at degree level, 65 at diploma level while 120 of these are continuing students in their final year of study.
Male applicants (continuing) were more successful as opposed to their female counterparts with at least 85 of the successful beneficiaries being male.
The Higher Education Students Financing Board notes that quite a number of students submitted false information and were ‘found to be outside the eligibility criteria.’
Only 4 public universities and private chartered universities had submitted application details for their students by closure of the application process on November 30th 2021.
