The Higher Education Students Financing Board (HESFB) is pleased to announce the commencement of applications for study loans under the Students’ Loan Scheme for the academic year 2023/2024. This invitation is extended to eligible Ugandan students who have secured admission in their first year for the listed Undergraduate Diploma and Degree programs in Public Universities, Private Chartered Universities, and selected Other Tertiary Institutions.

What the Student’s Loan Covers
The Students’ Loan aims to cover various aspects of your academic journey:
- Tuition fees and functional fees
- Aids and appliances for persons with disabilities
- Research funds (when budget allows)
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Student’s Loan:
- Applicants must be joining Higher Education Institutions in their First Year
- The loan is applicable for those pursuing Undergraduate Diploma and Undergraduate Degree programs only
How to Apply for the Student’s Loan
The application process is entirely online through the HESFB website. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
- Visit their website at https://www.hesfb.go.ug
- Click on the “APPLY NOW” button
- Fill in the required information as prompted
- Upload the necessary documents
- Admission Letter from the participating Higher Education Institution
- National ID copy
- Parents’ National IDs copies
- Death Certificate copies (if applicable)
- Academic certificates, result slips, and transcripts
- Birth Certificate copy
- Recent Passport Photo
- Proof of payment for the non-refundable Loan Processing fee
Application Fee
There is a non-refundable Loan Processing Fee of UGX 53,000. Please make the payment to:
