Makerere University, Uganda’s premier institution of higher learning, continues to streamline its admissions process with a user-friendly online application platform. Prospective students looking to join one of the university’s esteemed academic programmes can now apply with ease through a ten-step online procedure provided by the Makerere University Association of Class Representatives.

Here’s a simplified guide to help you through the online application process:

Step 1: Visit the Application Portal
Start by accessing the official application site: https://apply.mak.ac.ug

Step 2: Register a New Account
Click on the “REGISTER NOW” button on the login page. You will be redirected to a registration page where you must fill in your details exactly as they appear on your academic documents.

Step 4: Use Unique Contact Information
Ensure the email and telephone number you provide are unique to you and haven’t been used for previous applications.

Step 5: Receive One-Time Password (OTP)
Once registered, you’ll be redirected to the login page. An OTP will be sent to your email and phone number.

Step 6: Log in Using OTP
Use the OTP with either the “LOGIN WITH EMAIL” or “LOGIN WITH PHONE” option to access your application account.

Step 7: Set a New Password
You will be prompted to create a new password. Follow the instructions on screen and confirm once done.

Step 8: Log in with New Credentials
Revisit https://apply.mak.ac.ug and log in with your updated password and username.

Step 9: Choose Your Preferred Scheme
Once logged in, you’ll see a list of available academic schemes. Select the one that suits you and click “APPLY NOW.”

Step 10: Complete and Submit Application
Fill in the application form carefully, ensuring all mandatory fields marked with an asterisk (*) are completed. Click “Save” to store your application — you can return to edit or submit it at any time.

For assistance, applicants can reach out through the helpline numbers provided: 0701681970 or 0774877142.

This digitized process not only saves time but also increases efficiency, allowing prospective students from across the country — and even abroad — to access the university’s application system without stepping foot on campus.

Makerere University’s embrace of technology reflects its broader commitment to innovation and accessibility in higher education.
