The Kampala Deputy Lord Mayor further revealed that her decision to join FDC was made back in 2001 when Kiiza Besigye came on the political scene. Nyanjura explains that she chose to support Besigye as early as P.6.
“When Besigye came onto the scene in 2001, I was in P.6 and I saw his campaign poster at a shop. I was intrigued because it was a new face and I took down the poster and took it home. It was at that point that I decided to support Besigye.” Nyanjura explained.

Shortly after joining campus in 2009, Nyanjura started looking for FDC supporters among freshers and registered them. They formed an FDC Makerere chapter, conducted elections and she became the secretary. During her 2nd year, she was appointed the Vice Guild President.
