The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has officially released the examination results for the December 2025 diet, congratulating successful candidates and encouraging those who did not pass to remain resilient and focused.
The results were released on January 5, 2026, during a ceremony held at the Protea Hotel by Marriott Kampala Skyz in Naguru. The event was presided over by ICPAU President, CPA Timothy David Ediomu, who described the occasion as more than just an announcement of academic performance.
“This exam result release ceremony is not merely an announcement of performance. It is an acknowledgement of resilience, ambition, growth and determination to build accountancy careers anchored in professionalism, competence and integrity,” Ediomu said.
He congratulated candidates who passed, particularly top performers per subject, and urged them to use the achievement as motivation to complete their professional qualifications. CPA finalists were encouraged to enrol as Associate Members as they prepare for full membership, noting that associate membership provides access to professional support and development opportunities.
Addressing candidates who did not pass, the ICPAU President commended them for attempting the examinations, describing the effort itself as an achievement.
“One who tries and falls is on a far better path than one who never tries at all,” he said, urging candidates to begin early preparations for the 2026 examination diets by seeking feedback, attending revision programmes and utilising tuition providers.
During the same event, ICPAU announced several key activities lined up for 2026. The 16th ICPAU Graduation Ceremony is scheduled for March 6, 2026, and will cater for CPA, CTA and ATD finalists who completed their courses in 2025. The secretariat is expected to issue further guidelines on registration for the ceremony.
Other major events planned for the year include the Public Finance Management (PFM) Conference, CPA Economic Forum, C-Suite Forum, ICPAU Annual Seminar and the Financial Reporting Awards.
The Institute also announced that the Accountancy Service Awards will be held earlier than usual, on April 10, 2026, instead of October. Students and organisations are eligible to submit nominations under categories such as Finance Team of the Year and Institutional Partner of the Year.
ICPAU also highlighted progress on the adoption of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Sustainability Disclosure Standards. Uganda adopted the standards in 2024, and a national implementation roadmap was launched in September 2025.
Mandatory adoption will begin in 2028, starting with listed entities, financial institutions, insurance companies and government business entities, before extending to other organisations in 2029. However, early adoption has been encouraged from January 2026.
The Institute said it will continue conducting stakeholder sensitisation programmes and Continuing Professional Development trainings to prepare accountants and organisations for the new standards.
Ediomu concluded by thanking the Public Accountants Examinations Board, examiners, invigilators, markers, ICPAU staff and media partners for their role in ensuring a successful examination process.
He encouraged all students to approach 2026 with courage and purpose, whether they are celebrating success or rebuilding after setbacks, expressing optimism for continued growth of the accountancy profession in Uganda.
