In a letter dated 28th May 2021, the Human Resource Department of Victoria University informed all staff who missed vaccination against COVID-19 to get their jabs between 28th May and 4th June in a bid to keep everyone within the university safe.

The letter further adds that those who miss the jab should not go back to the university until COVID-19 is out of Uganda.

“Whoever misses the jab, kindly don’t come back to work until COVID-19 is out of Uganda. Management will not risk the lives of the stakeholders,” Part of the letter reads.

The tough letter has come few days after the Ministry of Health issued statistics showing a spike in COVID-19 cases in the country over the past two weeks. The second wave of COVID-19 has forced Kyambogo University to move lectures back online after over eight students tested positive.

According to statistics issued by the Ministry of Health, the cumulative number of cases has now reached  45,931 with 362 deaths.
