IGG Asked to Investigate Corruption, Fraud at Kyambogo University

A whistle blower, who is also a concerned member of staff of Kyambogo University has written to the Inspector General of Government (IGG) to investigate corruption and fraud at Kyambogo University.

The concerned academic staff implores the IGG to become keenly interested in the University’s Director Information Communication Technology (DICTs) Dr. John Okuonzi and his colleague, a one Henry Tumusiime.

The whistleblower has asked the IGG to task the two officers to explain why they continue engaging an IT company for an integrated academic system well knowing the service they are purporting to procure is already abundantly being provided by the GoU through the ICT Ministry. The whistle blower furnishes the IGG with plenty of paper work relating to all transactions concerning the impugned company or service provider.

The whistle blower, whose petition was received by the Inspectorate, filed and allocated case number on Monday 1^st March 2021, also implores the IGG to inquire into the circumstances under which the Kyambogo top management has continued to keep a blind eye on this clear financial loss for now four years well knowing that the very same services that DICTS purports to procure from COMPUSOFT UGANDA LTD is already being procured and abundantly made available to the University by the GoU through the ICT Ministry.

“I am writing to report to your office ongoing corruption, fraud and financial loss in the Directorate of Information Technology, Kyambogo University. This is by the Director, Directorate of Information Communication Technology/DICTS Dr John Okuozi and Mr Henry Tumusiime with the full knowledge of management.

“These two members of staff also had unjustified accelerated appointed and promotion in the university yet they are known to have forged academic qualifications from a non-existent University in Burkina Faso. For all the time they claim to have studied in Burkina Faso, a Francophone country, they were living in Uganda. They also don’t know the french language,” the whistleblower report reads in part.
