As the 2017/18 academic year commences, the Kyambogo Students Guild led by GP H.E Ochieng Ochieng organized a Community Security Outreach meeting to talk and ensure safety at the University.
This outreach which was attended by the IGP Kale Kayihura and LCV chairman Mr Byaruhanga alongside several other police constables managed to paint a new secure face of the Banda based Uni.
While in this meeting, the IGP ordered for two more police vehicles to facilitate flexible response to emergency situations. He also directed KYU police post to conduct more patrols around halls, hostels and neighboring communities where students reside as they erect a new police booth in upper Banda near Kabojja hostel.
The area chairman was also directed to write to KCCA and request for security lights to be installed through KYU to Banda streets.
If all these directives are successfully implemented, Kyambogo will soon be rated as the most security conscious University with CCTV cameras, all round security lights and 24hr police patrols. According to the guild president Ochieng, more series of such Community Security Outreach Meetings are to be held to guarantee students’ and property safety.
