Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Professor Barnabas Nawangwe on Monday afternoon told journalists that students who put the university name in disrepute through hooliganism, strikes and general indiscipline will face a yet-to-be constituted student disciplinary committee.
The committee, according to Prof Nawangwe, will comprise of a judge and members of the public that “hold power to instill discipline.”
“We condemn the recent acts of hooliganism by our students and regret suspension from the University Football League. Anybody engaging in hooliganism henceforth will be personally held accountable & face Student Disciplinary Committee,” the new MAK Vice Chancellor revealed.
Among the other functions of the Committee include reprimanding students, asking the student to be a non-resident, suspending a student for a specified time, and recommending to the university council that a student gets dismissed.
During the same presser, Prof Nawangwe revealed that a College Review Committee has been established with clear terms where its reports will be shared when the Committee submits.
