Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication (BSc MAC) students at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) have a chance to further their studies in Iran through fully funded scholarships that the Embassy of Iran offers to young and ambitious professionals.
This was announced during a media seminar organised by the Embassy of Iran in Uganda in conjunction with Islamic University in Uganda at its Kampala Campus.
During the seminar that was held to promote media journey of ambitious young journalists, the Embassy of Iran gave a chance to the students pursuing Bachelor of Mass Communication at the institution to have a fully funded scholarship to study in the Asian country after obtaining their Bachelor Degree.
Speaking in an interview with Next Media’s Nile Post, the university Head of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Eng. Kasagga Usama referred to the seminar as “a pool of opportunities” for the university students pursuing Mass Communication.
“This is a strong opportunity for our students to lobby for opportunities like fully funded scholarships in order to help them advance their careers. The main purpose of the seminar was meant to link the university journalism students with the Iranian media while showing them how journalism is being practiced in Iran,” said Kasagga.
In his remarks , the Cultural Counsel of the Islamic Republic of Iran representative Issa Katungulu said the embassy collaborates with young professionals to help them advance their careers.
“The Embassy works with different categories of people including the youth, women, journalists and scholars in order to empower them with knowledge and also boost their careers. These opportunities are availed through the different fully funded scholarships the embassy gives,” he said
The seminar brought together IUIU Mass Communication students, Renowned Journalists and Representatives from the Embassy of Iran among others.
Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) offers Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication programme to nurture aspiring media and communications practitioners in print, broadcast, new media and public relations among others.
