In a bid to continue with the academic progression on their accredited Virtual Hybrid Learning Platform, ISBAT University has purchased bulk data for all registered students of the University, Campus Bee has learned.
According to an email sent to all students that Campus Bee has seen, the university has purchased data from giant telecommunication company, Airtel Uganda. This has been done to help students who have been facing connectivity problems due to lack of data.
More details in the email indicate that the university will meet the data costs and students won’t be charged a single coin.
“The management of the University is also concerned with the challenges faced by some of the students in terms of availability of data and other technical issues attributed to the internet services. Considering the same, the University management has decided to purchase bulk data from one of the best service provider Airtel Uganda for the provision of toll-free data access to ISBAT University students during the lock down period to continue with the online interactive classes and the University’s LMS platform. This is an additional cost to the University, however keeping in view of the student’s welfare, University will bear the cost of data usage by registered students during the campus lock down duration.” Part of the email reads.
According to the same email, the University was all prepared to conduct the face to face classes with effect from 4th June 2020 by observing all protocols and guidelines by the Ministry of Health to maintain social distancing and stipulated hygienic standards. However, opening of University for face to face classes for the finalists was later postponed for at least a month by the President Museveni.
ISBAT University instantly commenced online classes with interactive mode to enrich the students in the respective subjects during the lock down period. One of the reasons behind conducting online lectures was to ensure that students are not at a disadvantage due to the prolonged closure of University in the lock down period.
The move to hold online lectures has saved students’ semester by conducting interactive online classes apart from various educational materials uploaded on their LMS.
