ISBAT University has taken a significant leap in advancing technological education with the inauguration of its state-of-the-art AI & Robotics Lab. This milestone marks a new chapter in research, innovation, and skill development in Uganda’s educational landscape.
The lab was officially unveiled by Mr. John Musinguzi Rujoki, Commissioner General of the Uganda Revenue Authority, in the presence of Mr. Varghese Mundamattam, Chairman of ISBAT University; Prof. Dr. K.M. Mathew, Vice Chancellor; and Mr. Fred Mandir Jachan Omach, Chancellor of ISBAT University.
During the inauguration, Mr. Musinguzi Rujoki engaged in a strategic discussion with the university leadership, focusing on how ISBAT University’s technological advancements can empower students and contribute to Uganda’s broader development goals.

Chairman Mr. Varghese Mundamattam reaffirmed ISBAT’s commitment to future-ready education. “This lab embodies our vision to nurture leaders in innovation. It serves as a hub where creativity meets technology, transforming knowledge into impactful solutions,” he said.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. K.M. Mathew highlighted the interdisciplinary approach of the facility. “Through this lab, our students and researchers will tackle real-world challenges in AI, robotics, and machine learning, providing solutions for various industries, including agriculture, healthcare, and logistics.”

Mr. Musinguzi Rujoki commended ISBAT for integrating technology with education, stating, “Uganda needs institutions that go beyond conventional learning. ISBAT is equipping the youth with skills crucial for thriving in the digital economy, and this will have a lasting impact beyond the university.”
Chancellor Mr. Fred Mandir Jachan Omach emphasized ISBAT’s role as a transformative force within society. “Our goal is not only to produce skilled professionals but also responsible innovators who can leverage technology to uplift communities.”
Capabilities of the AI & Robotics Lab
The AI & Robotics Lab at ISBAT University is designed to be a center for exploration, experimentation, and innovation. It provides an advanced environment where students, researchers, and faculty can leverage cutting-edge technologies to address real-world challenges.
Core Functions of the Lab:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) Development: Supports machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision projects with high-powered computing resources.
- Robotics Design & Programming: Equipped with modern robotic kits and platforms to design, build, and program autonomous robots and robotic systems.
- IoT Integration & Smart Systems: Facilitates research and development in Internet of Things (IoT) applications, such as smart agriculture and home automation.
- Simulation & Testing Environments: Provides virtual testing platforms and real-time simulators for prototyping and refining AI models and robotic behaviors.
