The wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic since March 2020 in Uganda has brought about a wave of unprecedented change in the way we do things. While it might have caused a halt in many interpersonal youth activities across the country, it has inspired alternative avenues through which developmental and humanitarian programs can be carried out.
Today, we take a look at Ayebare Philip Bravo, a student of Uganda Christian University (UCU) who has made it his life mission to better his community through various humanitarian projects while partnering with organizations within his reach.
Ayebare’s transition from being a pharmacy student at Kampala International University (KIU) to business administration pushed him to better understand the issues that affect young people across the country. This inspired his quest into the world of Mental Health Advocacy.
With the full knowledge of the limitations brought about by the pandemic, he has gone ahead to carry out mental health awareness activities as a humanitarian with Global Peace Forum through hosting open discussions on Mental Health disorders and risk factors on social media platforms like Instagram.
His Instagram live sessions feature various students from across Universities in Uganda who take time to discuss the realities of mental health from an unbiased perspective of non professionals.
He draws inspiration from his personal life experiences and prominent humanitarians like Martin Luther King Junior, and Sadhguru.
Ayebare hopes that the scope of his work can be broadened in time to come and prays that more young people can find alternative ways to make positive contributions in their communities regardless of the new way of life that is our reality today.
