According to IUEA Vice Chancellor Dr Akaezuwa Emeka, the university management applied for a charter early this year from the authorizing agency National Council of Higher Education (NCHE) and the ministry of education.
With only 8 years of existence, IUEA has already earned global recognition as Africa Technological University of Choice for its niche of providing an excellent education that includes practical experience and skills.
“We applied for a charter this year and we will hopefully be granted a charter in 2020.” Dr. Emeka said.
With the students’ community coming from over 40 African countries, IUEA through technological and innovative courses has produced graduates who are impacting society in agriculture, energy, entrepreneurship and development of applications that have not only solved African problems but provided solution to society.
“Our University and our students are recognised and respected all over the world, demonstrated excellence, diversity, flexibility and professionalism. IUEA has acquired this big achievement because it has focused on some basic but important aspects of education, critical thinking, pairing of theoretical concepts with practical knowledge how and our method practice with innovative and entrepreneurial form.” Dr. Emeka further said.
He added that IUEA has acquired reputation for technological prowess through the numerous solutions its students and staff developed. These innovations have shown practical mastery of robotics, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, cyber security, computer networks and engineering.
“Our method of teaching and innovations resonate because they are geared towards solving real world problems. Our innovations have targeted areas such as agriculture, climate change, transportation, engineering, Internet of things smart cities, digital currencies and secure systems to name but a few.”
“As modern responsive academic institution, we believe in the philosophy of continuous improvement to align our teaching programmes to information age. we are also venturing strongly into the areas of machine learning and space studies. This year we have been chosen as one the universities to provide space studies in Uganda.”
