The management of International University of East Africa (IUEA) broken the silence following a boat accident that involved one of the university’s Directors and his family. According to a press release dated August 31st 2020, Mr. Alwi Hassan (Senior), one of the Directors of IUEA survived the horrible accident which happened on Sunday evening at around 5pm.
“With God’s grace, Mr. Alwi Hassan (Senior), one of the Directors of lUEA and affectionately known as ‘Chairman’ has survived this horrible accident and is fine. Investigations are ongoing into the accident. Mr. Hassan Alwi (Junior) the Resident Director of IUEA is alive and well and was not involved in the accident.” Part of the press statement reads.
“The entire IUEA family would like to extend our deepest condolences to the proprietors of IUEA family at this difficult time. We also thank the general public for the outpouring of support for the Alwi and WEA families.” The statement reads further.
Campus Bee has further established that the body of Alwi Hassan’s (Senior) wife was discovered and the hunt for his missing daughter is still ongoing. The daughter was also among the passengers on the boat which experienced engine failure when the family was making their way to the source of River Nile.
Alwi Senior is currently undergoing treatment at Jinja Referal Hospital.
